Gwinnett pounded 11 hits on Sunday, beating the Toledo Mud Hens 7-3. Ernesto Mejia pounded two doubles, bringing his season total to 31, while Todd Cunningham and the newly-acquired Tyler Greene added a double apiece. Omar Poveda threw five and a third innings, allowing three runs on six hits and four walks, striking out six. Lynchburg slid past Myrtle Beach in a pitcher's duel on Sunday, beating the Pelicans 3-2. David Rohm, Josh Elander, and Elmer Reyes — Lynchburg's 4-5-6 in the lineup — had two hits apiece, collecting six of Lynchburg's eight hits. Elander has had a disappointing second half after a standing out in Rome, posting a .657 OPS in Lynchburg with only two home runs. Reyes and Rohm are both incredibly hot in their past ten games, posting an OPS of .895 and 1.005 respectively. Starter Jose Lugo allowed one run on four hits in four innings of work, while Wilson Rivera, Robert Fish, and Nate Hyatt combined for four innings of hitless and scoreless relief. John Cornely recorded his eighth save but made it interesting by allowing a run to cross on a hit and two walks.

Rome held off an eighth-inning attack from the RiverDogs, escaping with a 5-4 victory. Edison Sanchez was the star on offense, going 3-3 with a walk and his fourth home run of the season. Jose Peraza stole another couple of bases, bringing his season total to 58. It's a two-man race for stolen base crown in the Sally League between Peraza and Micah Johnson of the Kannapolis Intimidators, who is currently sitting on 61 swipes. Peraza is also riding a modest 12-game hitting streak, during which he is slashing .373/.377/.451. Frank Lafreniere struck out six and allowed one earned run in six innings of work while Alex Wilson recorded a two-inning save, fanning three. Eric Pfisterer also pitched an inning of relief, and while he did strike out the side, he also allowed two earned runs to cross on two walks and a hit.
