Several Braves writers have reported via Twitter that Paul Maholm will return to the rotation this Thursday vs. the Cardinals. He is taking Mike Minor's spot, who will get extra rest and start on August 27 against the Indians.
Maholm has been on the disabled list for the past month after injuring his wrist. He made one rehab start with Single-A Rome last Saturday, going 5.2 innings. He allowed one run on four hits, striking out six and walking none.
It's unclear what the Braves will do from here. All five starters have pitched well as of late, and Fredi Gonzalez has previously expressed reluctance about switching to a six-man rotation.
