Well, at least it wasn't a shutout.
Freddie Freeman homered in the first, but Matt Carpenter responded likewise in the bottom half and Carlos Beltran provided a solo blast in the third inning off Julio Teheran.
Teheran wasn't as sharp as Miller, walking five (one intentional) in six innings, but struck out eight and allowed just three hits before St. Louis put the game out of reach in the seventh: Shane Robinson and Matt Carpenter reached base against Teheran before Matt Holliday lined a two-run double off David Carpenter; Yadier Molina singled home Holliday two hitters later. Carlos Beltran drove in a run in the eighth.
Atlanta threatened in the ninth, but managed only one run against the St. Louis bullpen. They'll try to avoid the sweep tomorrow.
