Dan Uggla made his first rehab appearance Monday night, going 0-3 with two strikeouts and a GIDP. If we could not overreact to this (or LASIK making him super awesome), that would be great. In his first start with the Braves organization, veteran Freddy Garcia was rocked by his former club. Garcia went 3.2 innings giving up 8ER with an astonishing five walks to one strikeout. He also gave up a home run to Orioles top prospect Jonathan Schoop. Joe Bisenius didn’t fare much better in relief, giving up six hits and four runs on 3.1 innings. On offense, Gwinnett scattered 12 hits, but could only push across one run, leaving 11 runners on. Ernesto Mejia collected three hits. Alden Carrithers, who entered to play second for Uggla, singled in his only plate appearance.

Mississippi edged out Huntsville 2-1 in front of over 6,000 folks on Department of Rehabilitation Services Awareness Night. The story of the night was the pitching, which included a seven inning three hit performance by Gus Schlosser. He struck out seven and walked one in the process of lowering his ERA to 2.44. Flame thrower Juan Jamie came in to strikeout the side. After TC rated his fastball as the best in the system, some asked about his future with the club (assuming he stays healthy which is a problem in itself). Like most relievers, he will seemingly only make it to the big club if he can find a secondary offering. After scrapping a changeup, he is currently trying to feel out a splitter to pair with his heater. Ryne Harper struck out two in the ninth, collecting his 10th save of the season. On offense, Mycal Jones hit his fourth hime run of the season in his first game off the DL. Jamie Pedroza had a rough night at the plate, hitting into three double plays.
Mississippi RHP Gary Moran was named the Southern League Pitcher of the Week.

Lynchburg tried to rally late, but they dug themselves too big of a hole, losing 6-3 Monday. Both teams scattered 10 hits, but Lynchburg's failure with runners in scoring position (1-for-14) was the deciding factor. David Rohm didn’t help the cause and, like Jamie Pedroza, grounded into three double plays. Kyle Kubitza put together a very impressive 0-1 line, walking twice and getting hit twice by starter Zach Clark. He did however make his 25th error of the season. Williams Perez made the start, giving up two earned over 5.2 innings, walking four and striking out five.

Danville Manager Jonathan Schuerholz was tossed after five innings Monday night before the club took a 5-2 loss to Johnson City. Victor Caratini roped out his 23rd double of the season, keeping his season average above the .300 mark. The recently turned 20-year-old has certainly showed off his gap/double power in rookie ball this season. 19-year-old Connor Lien collected three hits and drove in both Danville runs. He was however caught stealing for the third time this season, now currently 9-for-12 on the season. On the mound, Michael Flores had an impressive five-inning start, giving up two runs while striking out eight and walking two.
