BJ Upton Activated, Laird to DL

Daniel Shirey-USA TODAY Sports

BJ Upton has been activated off the disabled list and will return to center field for the game today vs. the Phillies. He made three rehab appearances in Gwinnett, going 4-for-12 with three doubles and three strikeouts.

To make room for Upton, Gerald Laird was placed on the disabled list, retroactive to July 26. He spent several days battling a kidney stone, but eventually had to have a procedure to have it removed yesterday.

Meanwhile, Jordan Schafer will begin a rehab assignment in Gwinnett today. He's predicted to return to the Atlanta club sometime this week.
