Gwinnett Braves 3, Norfolk Tides 2

  • Ernesto Mejia, 1B: 3-4, HR(28), BB, SB(7), .243
  • Alden Carrithers, LF: 1-3, 2 BB, .301
  • Phil Gosselin, 2B: 2-4, .257
  • Kameron Loe, SP: 7 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 2 K, 5.20 ERA
Gwinnett beat Kevin Gausmann and the Tides last night behind Ernesto Mejia's go-ahead 10th inning home run. Mejia's home was his 28th of the year and capped off a 3-hit night for him. Alden Carrithers was also on base three times as well, singling at drawing two walks. Kameron Loe started this game and pitched 7 strong innings, allowing only 2 runs.

Jackson Generals 4, Mississippi Braves 1 - Game 1
  • Edward Salcedo, 3B: 1-3, HR(11), .251
  • Christian Bethancourt, C: 2-3, 2B, .280
  • Tommy La Stella, 2B: 1-3, 2B, .340
  • Gus Schlosser, SP: 5.2 IP, 11 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 6 K, 2.37 ERA
Jackson Generals 6, Mississippi Braves 0 - Game 2
  • Dan Brewer, DH: 3-3, .263
  • Tommy La Stella, 2B: 1-3, .340
  • Omar Luna, SS: 1-3, .237
  • Gary Moran, SP: 8 H, 6 R, 2 BB, 1 K, 4.96 ERA
Mississippi managed one run over the course of their double header yesterday, coming on an Edward Salcedo solo shot. Both starting pitchers for the M-Braves got shelled. Not too much else to say about this one. Oh, Tommy La Stella is awesome. That's all.

Lynchburg Hillcats 2, WIlmington Blue Rocks 11
  • Josh Elander, LF: 1-3, 2B, BB, SB(3), .220
  • Matt Weaver, CF: 2-4, .208
  • A.J. Holland, SP: 2.1 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 2 K, 4.79 ERA
Disaster game for Lynchburg last night. The Hillcats only managed to scrape together 3 hits, and light-hitting center fielder Matt Weaver had two of them. Lynchburg's defense committed 5 errors which lead to 5 unearned runs. All in all, just a really forgettable game.

Rome Braves 7, Charleston River Dogs, 2
  • Kyle Wren, CF: 1-4, 2B, .325
  • Jose Peraza, DH: 3-5, SB(50), .280
  • Eric Garcia, SS: 2-4, 3B, .261
  • Lucas Sims, SP: 7 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 9 K, 3.04 ERA
Rome put together 7 runs, but last night's game was all about Lucas Sims. The Braves 2012 1st round draft pick put together the best start of his professional career, going 7 innings and allowing only 2 runs on 4 hits. He walked 1 and struck out a whopping 9 men. Even more absurd, he threw 66 strikes in 82 pitches, which is good for 80% strikes thrown. On the offensive side, Jose Peraza reached base three times and stole his 50th(!) base of the year. Peraza and Wren at the top of the Rome lineup may be the fastest duo Atlanta's minor league system has ever seen.

Danville Braves 6, Burlington Royals 2
  • Johan Camargo, DH: 3-5, 3B, .314
  • Mikey Reynolds, SS: 1-4, BB, SB(7), .326
  • Victor Caratini, 3B: 1-3, BB, .307
  • Michael Flores, SP: 4.1 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 4 K, 4.19 ERA
  • Andy Otero, RP: 2.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K, 0.00 ERA
Danville knocked off Burlington 6-2 last night behind solid pitching from Michael Flores and Andy Otero. Flores pitched decently, but it was Otero who shone, striking out 5 in 2.2 scoreless frames. 2013 draftees Mikey Reynolds and Victor Caratini each reached base twice, while Johan Camargo put together a three-hit game.

GCL Pirates 5, GCL Braves 4
  • Connor Oliver, RF: 2-4, SB(4), .198
  • Jose Morel, LF: 1-4, SB(7), .279
  • Ian Hagenmiller, DH: 2-4, .253
  • Alec Grosser, SP: 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K, 2.51 ERA
After stretching out in the pen, 2013 draftee Alec Grosser made his first start today and it was excellent. Grosser tossed 3 innings of 1-hit ball with 4 strikeouts and no walks. Despite running wild on the Pirates, the Braves were only able to push 4 runs across.
