According to Dave O'Brien of the AJC, the Braves have released Mat Gamel following complications in his surgically repaired knee.
This is unfortunate news, as there was some hope that Gamel could win a roster spot and revert back to his pre-surgery form. Gamel is a left-handed power option that plays the corner infield spots, so he would have fit well on the bench were he to be healthy and perform. Unfortunately, this may have been Gamel's last shot at the majors. Injuries are the worst.
#Braves released corner INF/OF Mat Gamel, who reinjured his surgically repaired knee last week doing workouts on his own.
