Nothing Quite Like Spring Training
The smell of the fresh cut grass, the sunny skies, and the chance to watch young prospects get their shot at the major league level all make Spring Training games very enjoyable at Champion Field at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. These are some of the reasons why sports columnist Bill Shanks, writer for The Telegraph, considers ST to be very special to himself and die hard baseball fans.
With a minor set back to Mike Minor DOB of the AJC writes that Kris Medlen should be scheduled to be the Braves Opening Day starter on March 31 at Milwaukee if Fredi Gonzalez maintains the rotation order throughout Grapefruit League play. Players Still At Odds About New Collision Rule
While at first many thought home plate collisions would be banned completely that has turned out to not be the case, instead the rule (7.13) states that the runner attempting to score can't deviate from his direct pathway to the plate in order to initiate contact with the catcher. These runners that do so will be called out and possibly face further discipline in severe cases. DOB reports that the team will discuss this rule further before their game today

Atlanta's Offseason Report Card
TC's Scott Coleman mentions how the Braves really didn't make any major moves this offseason in free agency, with Gavin Floyd the headliner, but the team accomplished what they needed the most by shoring up five young keys to the franchise over the past month. So far the score on the report card for the Braves offseason is an A-.
Phillies Chasing After Youthful Braves
Inquirer columnist Bob Brookover paints the picture quite well for why the Philadelphia Phillies are declining and why the Atlanta Braves are on the rise. The Phillies in their first ST game today against Toronto will have a lineup with six players 33 years or older in it.
Uggla Determined To Hold Off Competition
While Dan Uggla will be 34-years-old at the beginning of the season he still believes he has some solid years left with the bat. This ST he will be one to keep a close eye on as he tries to regain the confidence of his club that once upon a time gave him the largest contract in Braves history.

Headley Expected Back For Opening Day
The San Diego Padres can take a deep breath of relief, as starting third baseman Chase Headley will most likely be ready for Opening Day despite recovering from a Grade 1 calf strain. He will try and regain his form from back in 2012 when he hit 31 home runs and drove in 115 runs.
