Braves Outscore Rockies In Slugfest
For the first time in his professional career Evan Gattis recorded for four of his team's 13 runs scored in the game. He also went 3-for-4 with his 13th home run of the season. What was even better was that every player that entered the batters box at Coors Field on Tuesday night managed to come up with a base hit for the Braves. Chris Johnson also put together his second consecutive three-hit night and TLS went 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Luckily the offense was at full strength, because Mike Minor gave up eight runs in just four innings. Andrelton Simmons also hit a first inning grand slam that was the highlight of the seven-run first.
Walden Activated, Shaky In Return
After being out for just over a month with a hamstring injury, Jordan Walden returned to the bullpen for the Braves last night. However, it was not a spectacular return by any means. He surrendered an earned run while walking three batters and only recording one out. Nonetheless, the team is so grateful to see him back and should be a plus for the team throughout the season. Due to Walden's call up Alex Wood was sent down to Gwinnett and is expected to be back soon.
Shae Simmons Solid In His New Job
Simmons has yet to give up a run at all in his first seven relief outings. Last night he saved Walden and came in to get the hold in the eighth inning and set up for the best closer in all of baseball: Craig Kimbrel. He will be a key piece in the pen the rest of the way and has won over the players respect.
After running out an infield single in his only at-bat of the night Justin Upton was able to play out the first inning on the base paths before being removed for Jordan Schafer. For the time being he is listed as day-to-day.
Run Support Not An Issue In Colorado
Coors Field in fact is a launching pad and always will be as it stands. Mike Minor was a very thankful man last night and saw his ERA shoot up an entire point.
(Former Brave) Jurrjens On Comeback Trail
Once upon a time Jair Jurrjens was the talk around the league and thought to be an up-and-coming superstar. From 2008-12 he produced a 50-36 record and an ERA in the low three's. He signed a minor league deal with the Reds in May and is now in Triple-A trying to make his way back up to the top.

Cowgill Hits Walk Off Home Run
The Angels all mobbed Collin Cowgill last night as he touched home plate after hitting the ever-so famous walk off bomb. His solo shot came in the 14th inning against the Athletics.
The 1990 Cy Young award winner passed away yesterday at the age of 57. He was the last MLB player to win 25 games in one season.
