BRAVES NEWS
When B.J. and Justin homer in the same game this season their team holds an unblemished 1-0 record. The younger brother followed his older brother's lead in the 3-2 win over the Houston Astros last night, as J-Up launched his 15th roundtripper of the season in the fourth an inning after B.J. used the Crawford Boxes in left field as his launching pad. This marked the fourth time the two have gone deep in the same game, typing a MLB record set by the Guerrero and Giambi brothers. Despite giving up nearly a 500-foot home run to George Springer in the first inning, Aaron Harang put together a solid performance by only allowing two runs in six innings and striking out five while throwing exactly 100 pitches. He improves to 6-6 on the season along with a 3.78 ERA. The Braves are now 9-12 in the month of June, a month that has featured an incredible Evan Gattis hit streak and the first full month of TLS being in the BIGS.
Bossman Jr. Hits In Leadoff Spot
Nowadays it is almost impossible to predict what lineup the Braves will deploy, but for now B.J. Upton will hit leadoff and Tommy La Stella has been dropped to the second spot in the lineup. As long as the team finds ways to win fans won't care if Chris Johnson hits leadoff. BJ has scored 32 runs this year and hopes to make that much more very soon with.
Bethancourt, Peraza Named To Futures Game
The Braves future behind the dish and at second base have both been selected to play in the Futures Game on July 13 at Target Field. Christian Bethancourt will play in the game for his third time while Jose Peraza will make his debut. After making the climb to AA-Mississippi recently Peraza has scored 10 runs and strung together 12 hits in just five games. On the season he is slashing .355 with nine triples and 32 stolen bases.
Alex Wood was one of the best starting pitchers in the National League to begin the season, but the Braves sent him to the bullpen and even down to the minors for a little while to save his arm for the long run. With Floyd out for the season he will now jump back into a role that he is most comfortable with. The southpaw will get the nod tonight against Collin McHugh tonight at Minute Maid Park.
This morning Gavin Floyd is scheduled to undergo surgery Wednesday morning up in the Big Apple for a fractured right elbow. While a timetable for recovery has not been announced yet it is most likely he is finished for the season.

The Phillies faithful gave Tony Gwynn Jr. a huge standing ovation last night as he made his first appearance back since the passing of his father.
After throwing his first no-hitter Clayton Kershaw came out yesterday in his next start with eight scoreless innings against the Kansas City Royals. This southpaw is something special and he should win another Cy Young award when it's al said and done.
