Yuck. Gwinnett got absolutely mollywhopped last night, dropping a 9-1 decision to the Mud Hens. The offense managed a measly 7 hits, with 4 of those coming from Christian Bethancourt and Brandon Boggs. Boggs accounted for Gwinnett's only run with his fifth home run of the year. Todd Cunningham collected a single and also showed off his arm, gunning down a Mud Hen at home. Hector Daniel Rodriguez had a start to forget, allowing 7 runs (5 earned) in 5 innings of work. 4 walks didn't help at all, but he did strike out 5 men. Kameron Loe came on in relief on Rodriguez, and, well, you can probably imagine how that turned out.

Williams Perez turned in a rare bad start for Mississippi last night, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks. The pen hurled 5 shutout innings behind Perez, but the offense couldn't make up the difference. Jose Peraza's long hit streak was snapped, as he posted an 0-4 night with 1 strikeout. He's now *only* hitting .419 in AA. Seth Loman's 11th homer was all the scoring Mississippi managed on the evening. Kyle Kubitza collected a hit and raised his average to .303 and his OBP to .403. Yeah, he's pretty good.

NO-HITTER! Braves consensus top prospect Lucas Sims was effectively wild last night, hurling 7 hitless innings with 4 walks and 6 strikeouts against the Blue Rocks. After 7 innings, Sims's pitch count sat at 101, the highest it has been all year. Thus, Lynchburg turned to closer Alex Wilson to slam the door on Sims's no-no. Wilson was up to the task, striking out half the men he faced and, more importantly, allowing no hits. The offense managed 5 runs but there weren't really any standout performances. And hey, who cares? No-hitter! Just look at this. Isn't it beautiful?

Another day, another miserable showing for Rome. The R-Braves were blanked by Augusta last night and now have twice as many losses (52) as wins (26). Yeesh. Really not too much of note in this game. Victor Caratini had a 1-3 evening and Connor Oliver hit his tenth double of the year. Other than that, eh. Steve Janas started and was too hittable, allowing 8 hits in only 4 innings pitched.

Danville notched their 5th win of the young season with a 4-2 triumph over the Astros' rookie-ball affiliate. Sean Godfrey, Atlanta's 22nd round draft choice, hit cleanup and went 2-4 with his first professional triple. Through his first 6 professional games, Godfrey has 4 singles, 4 doubles, and last night's triple to go along with a 2/2 K/BB ratio. Not a bad start at all. Keith Curcio, Atlanta's 6th rounder this year, hit third ahead of Godfrey and smacked his second professional double. Daniel Cordero rebounded from a rough start by tossing 5 innings of three-hit, one-run ball with 4 strikeouts.

Big news out of the GCL too, as first round pick Braxton Davidson made his professional debut yesterday. It was a rather unceremonious debut, as Davidson went 0-4. But it wasn't just him, the GCL-Braves managed only 4 hits on the day against the GCL Tigers. It's a shame too, because the offense's inability to score ruined a good outing from Francisco Gonzalez, who threw 6 shutout innings with only 1 walk and 6 punchouts.
