Happy doubleheader day Braves fans! Let’s play two and whatnot. And guess what? You lucky fans get to watch Gerald Laird catch TWO games today! Watch Andrelton Simmons bat in statistically the most important position in the lineup TWICE! Do you like BJ Upton leading the team in at bats? Cause guess what you get that TWICE today! It really is an embarrassment of riches for all of us today and I am glad you are all here to share it with your fellow Talking Chop readers. This will be your open thread for both games and there will be one recap at the end of the day’s festivities.
The good news is the Phillies really don’t have much to brag about either. Their second starter today might literally be the worst pitcher to start a major league game this year. As a reminder folks please refrain from any sort of personal attacks and feuding in the game thread. We had to ban folks last night who were ruining the experience for everyone else. It is okay to disagree and it is okay be frustrated when Chris Johnson grounds into a double play with the bases loaded but show proper respect for both your fellow readers and the players themselves. And yeah if a Talking Chop moderator tells you to knock it off, "your mom" isn’t a good response. Have fun and go Braves!

Guys it is happening! Long talked of prospect Christian Bethancourt will be making his first big league start tonight! He will be catching and batting eighth. It is not known yet if he is the 26th man for the double header or if this is part of Gattis going to the DL. Regardless this is an exciting chance to see what this long talked of prospect can really do. Also Jordan Schafer is leading off and Ryan Doumit is in right field so I will be drinking heavily seeing as how Fredi Gonzalez must have been doing the same since noon.
