Game Thread 6/30: Braves Vs. Mets

Kevin C. Cox

For the first time since late April, the Braves and the Mets are about to engage with each other in baseball battle. The Braves will be returning home to Turner Field following a wonderful trip to Pennsylvania after sweeping the Phillies over 4 games (even though Evan Gattis is currently dealing with rhomboid issues.), while the Mets had a woeful trip to Pennsylvania, losing 3 out of 4 to the Pirates.

For tonight's contest, the Mets will be sending Zack Wheeler to the mound for the first game of this three game series. The Braves have seen Wheeler twice so far this season, and they didn't exactly struggle against him on both occasions. Meanwhile, today's starter for the Braves will be Alex Wood, who is making his 2nd start since returning from Gwinnett in the wake of Gavin Floyd's awful elbow injury. Wood's start against the Astros went well (7 IP, 4 Ks, 3 Hs, 1 BB, 0 ER), so he'll be hoping to keep that run going.

Here's the lineups:
