According to beat writer Mark Bowman, the Braves are likely going to cut Jordan Schafer and option Chasen Shreve to the minors to make room for the newly acquired Emilio Bonifacio and James Russell.
Cutting Schafer is the proper move, even if it is unexpected. He has about two good months of baseball over the past two seasons and while his speed is useful, the rest of his skillset is not necessary for a team that has Bonifacio and Jason Heyward on its roster.I am surprised they decided to send Shreve down. I usually like to have two lefties in a bullpen, but it is not the worst thing in the world to go with one. If I had a choice, I probably would have optioned Juan Jaime down. Alas, Shreve will likely go down and Schafer will be DFA'd.
The #Braves haven't announced the roster moves to make room for Bonifacio and Russell. They're expected to option Shreve and DFA Schafer
