As we covered in our positional reviews, Andrelton Simmons is a special talent at shortstop.. While his bat hasn't always kept up with is glove, that may be due to the fact that his glove (and arm) are just so good. He is likely to be the favorite for the Gold Glove at SS this year and is certain to be in the running for various defensive player of the year awards. As a result, its not surprising that those awards are starting to roll in.
#Braves shortstop Andrelton Simmons was a unanimous choice for Fielding Bible Award as majors' best defensive SS, his 3rd in a row.

The Fielding Bible Awards are voted on by a panel that includes Bill James, Peter Gammons, Joe Posnanski, and Dave Cameron. Andrelton was one of three unanimous selections in 2015 (the others being Kevin Kiermaier and Jason Heyward). Andrelton actually had a down year defensively....for him. While his defensive runs saved were the lowest since his first season, he still saved 25 and the lower number could be due to not having to cover as much ground with the statue formally known as Chris Johnson being shipped to the Indians. In almost 1300 innings, Andrelton made a total of 8 errors while gracing Braves fans with gems such as these.
So yeah....Andrelton is pretty good at the whole catching and throwing baseballs thing. Expect to hear his name more during awards season.
