Uribe, Peterson deliver big hits to come from behind twice and defeat the Giants 7-5

At first, this game was agonizing to watch, then exciting, then back to agonizing...a textbook roller coaster game, but one in which the Braves ultimately stunned the defending champs.

The Braves overcame Madison Bumgarner and two deficits to defeat the Giants 7-5 and leave town with a series split.

We saw glimpses of the old Julio Teheran, but he still wasn't himself. Still, through six innings he'd only given up three hits, two of them on back-to-back homers by Brandon Belt and Brandon Crawford in the second inning. He walked four, but kept the damage to a minimum.

Madison Bumgarner was perfect through four innings, but the Braves tagged him for a run in the fifth with singles from Jonny Gomes and Chris Johnson. Then in the seventh, Atlanta managed to take the lead when Juan Uribe struck again, launching a two-run homer to put the Braves in front. Both Bumgarner and Buster Posey knew it when he hit it: that ball was history.

That lead was to be short lived, however, when Teheran was taken down for Donnie Veal in the bottom of the seventh after Teheran had given up a leadoff double. Veal, a lefty and undeniably the least reliable reliever in Atlanta's bullpen, then gave up a game-tying single to Gregor Blanco, a lefty hitter, followed by a two-run homer to Joe Panik, also a lefty hitter. Giants lead 5-3 into the ninth.

Santiago Casilla was called on again for the save as he was on Friday. Freddie Freeman, who didn't start but entered the game in the seventh, greeted Casilla as he did then: with a home run, but the fun didn't stop there. Casilla walked Andrelton Simmons, and then got a double play grounder. Game over? Not quite, as Brandon Crawford botched the play to keep the inning alive. A.J. Pierzynski came off the bench to hit, but even when Bruce Bochy had lefty Javier Lopez ready in the bullpen, Casilla stayed in and Pierzynski snapped his 0-17 skid with a bloop hit into right field to load the bases. Jace Peterson hit next, but still no Lopez. That decision proved regrettable as Peterson split the right field gap with a triple, clearing the bases to put the Braves ahead for good this time. Only then did Lopez come in, but it was already too late.

Jason Grilli picked up his 15th save of the year.
