The Atlanta Braves are reportedly close to a deal that would send Kelly Johnson and Juan Uribe to the New York Mets in exchange for minor league pitchers John Gant and Rob Whalen.
#Mets are sending young arms to #Braves for Kelly Johnson and Juan Uribe.

Rafael Montero is not part of this trade. I don't know who reported it. But it is Gant and Whalen for Johnson and Uribe

Gant was a 21st round pick of the Mets in 2011. He is 6-5 with a 3.52 ERA in 17 starts across High-A and Double-A this season. Whalen was a 12th round pick in 2012. He has appeared in 15 games so far this season in High-A St. Lucie and is 4-5 with a 36 ERA.
The move subtracts two of Atlanta's most effective offensive players from the roster. Uribe appeared in 46 games for the Braves after being acquired in a trade from the Dodgers on May 27. He was batting .285 with seven home runs and 17 RBIs. Kelly Johnson came to spring training as a non roster player with the Braves and earned a spot on the opening day roster. He appeared in 62 games while batting .275 with nine home runs and 34 RBIs.
Update
Juan Uribe has been scratched from the Braves lineup so it appears that this deal could be announced shortly.
The #Braves are finalizing the Uribe/Kelly Johnson deal, which will save them approximately $2.7M
