The Gwinnett Braves got the win on Friday night thanks to some timely hitting in the 8th inning where they brought across 3 runs to break the 3-3 tie. Peter Moylan came in to shut the door in the top of the 9th for his first save of the season. Mallex Smith had an encouraging night with 2 hits and a stolen base.

- David Rohm RF: 1-2, BB, .238
- Stephen Janas SP: Loss (1-3), 6 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 SO, .367 ERA
There was nothing to talk about offensively for the Mississippi Braves in this one. They managed just 3 hits in the game and couldn't bring a single run across the plate. Mobile scored 3 runs in the 5th and 2 runs in the 9th for the 5-0 win in an ugly game for the Braves.

- Justin Jackson RP: 2.1 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 SO, 2.94 ERA
The Mudcats didn't fare too much better than Mississippi as they had just 6 hits in the game, and after scoring 2 runs in the 1st inning, they were lifeless offensively for the rest of the night. Jacob Schrader was the bright spot of the offense with a 2-RBI double and a multi-hit game. Blair Walter was hit hard in hist start as he picked up his 4th loss of the season. Justin Jackson allowed 2 runs in 2.1 innings, but he did record 5 of his 7 outs by strikeout.
(42-55) Rome Braves 2, (44-51) Lexington Legends 3
- Braxton Davidson RF: 2-3, 2B, RBI, BB, .251

- Zach Quintana SP: Loss (2-3), 6.1 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 ER, BB, 5 SO, 2.27 ERA
The Rome Braves also had problems offensively on Friday as they picked up just 5 hits themselves. Just like the Mudcats, after scoring 2 first-inning runs, the Braves were unable to bring another run across the plate in the game. Braxton Davidson had the only multi-hit game as he reached base 3 times and drove in a run. Joseph Daris stole 3 bases in the game to bring his total up to 19 for the season. The Braves stole 6 bases in the game in 8 attempts. Zach Quintana had a nice start but unfortunately didn't get the run support he needed and picked up his 3rd loss.

- Jhoniel Sepulveda RP: 1.2 IP, 6 H, 8 R, 7 ER, 2 BB, SO, 2 HR, 14.63 ERA
Thankfully, the GCL Braves made up for the lack of offense across the rest of the farm on Friday with an offensive explosion from their lineup. The Braves scored 18 runs in the game, highlighted by an encouraging rehab appearance by Freddie Freeman. Freeman had 2 hits, including a 2-run home run. Alejandro Salazar was perfect in the game with 4 hits and 4 RBI's to bring his average up to .326. Angel Perez and Isranel Wilson also added 3 RBI's each. Jhoniel Sepulveda gave up a lot of the huge lead with an ugly relief appearance. He allowed 8 runs in just 1.2 innings of work.

- Luis Gamez SP: Loss (0-3), 0.1 IP, 4 H, 7 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 11.57 ERA
Yikes. The Danville pitching staff allowed 20 runs on 17 hits and 7 walks on Friday in a 20-5 blowout against Bluefield. Starter Luis Gamez managed to record just 1 out while allowing 7 runs. His ERA is now 11.57 ERA with an 0-3 record. The Blue Jays scored in every inning except the 6th. Carlos Castro was the only bright spot for the offense with a home run, double, and 3 RBI's in the game.
