Game Thread 8/1: Braves vs. Phillies

The Braves and Phillies are back at it on Saturday, and Atlanta needs a win.

Five. Straight. Losses.

The Atlanta Braves are in the midst of a full-on funk right now, and with those five consecutive defeats, two of them have come against the basement-dwelling Philadelphia Phillies. Fredi Gonzalez's team will have another chance to get up off the mat on Saturday evening, but at this point, nothing is a given.

Atlanta's Matt Wisler and Philly's Aaron Nola face off in a battle of young studs, and that is the biggest reason to tune in on Saturday. Wisler has been solid in his first seven starts, sporting a 3.43 ERA, and Nola has shined during his two debut outings, striking out 12 batters in 13.2 innings with a 3.29 ERA in his own right.

The talent level between these two teams is ugly right now, but baseball is baseball. As always, let's try to get this victory together. Stay tuned throughout the evening.
