Series Preview: Braves vs. Rockies

The Braves have lost seven consecutive games, but hey, at least the Rockies are in town.

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Things aren't going particularly well for the Atlanta Braves.

The team has lost seven consecutive games on the heels of a four-game sweep in Chicago, and the team is spiraling toward the worst record in baseball. Fortunately, Atlanta returns home to Turner Field for a three-game set to begin the week, and one of the teams with an uglier record is in town with the Colorado Rockies.

Both Julio Teheran and Shelby Miller take the hill for the Braves in the series, and that adds an additional layer of optimism. Miller has easily been the best pitcher on the Atlanta staff this season, and Teheran has posted back-to-back starts in which he allowed only two runs across 12 innings of work. Sadly, Mike Foltynewicz hasn't been quite as impressive recently, and he gets the ball in game two on Tuesday.

Colorado is, well, not very good. The Rockies have lost three straight in their own right, as the Mets got the best of a weekend series in Denver, and they have nothing to play for at this juncture. It is unclear who actually wants to win between these two teams, but baseball will be played at Turner Field this week. That much is certain.

The fan base is divided between those who would like the Braves to lose every game in search of a top draft pick and those who want competitive baseball until the end, but regardless of where you stand, we will be here to take you through the proceedings. Stay tuned.
