Christian Bethancourt and Marimon recalled; Aardsma and Eury Perez sent down

The Braves got the ball rolling on their September roster as they recalled Sugar Ray Marimon and Christian Bethancourt

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

It has long been speculated and assumed that Christian Bethancourt was going to see time with the Braves in September. He has been performing well down at Gwinnett and the Braves have wanted to see if he can translate his success in the minors to success in the majors going in to the offseason.

As it turns out, he is going to see some time with the Braves in August as well

Eury Perez has seen considerably less time in the field with the acquisition of Michael Bourn and Nick Swisher and while he has had some success with Atlanta, its not that surprising that the Braves would sent him down. Christian has slashed .327/.359/.480 in 52 games down at Gwinnett this year with 4 homers, 31 RBIs, and 25 runs scored while throwing out 14 of 32 would-be base stealers.

The Braves didn't stop there as they looked to shore up their bullpen a bit

Aardsma has appeared in 33 games for the Braves and sports a 4.70 ERA, but has for the most part been a fairly steady, if unremarkable, presence in the bullpen. This has the look of getting a fresh arm in the pen, although Sugar Ray Marimon does not exactly have the best track record of success in the majors. While he does have a 3.31 ERA in the minors in 2015, he has a 7.71 ERA in 6 games for Atlanta this season.
