Somewhat lost in the worry about Freddie Freeman, who exited Monday night's game with an oblique injury, is the status of Andrelton Simmons. The defensive anchor of the Atlanta Braves suffered a thumb injury over the weekend, and he was set to undergo on MRI on Monday to determine his immediate fate.
The results are in.

The timetable for Simmons' return to the lineup is unclear, but it should be noted that he has not been placed on the disabled list at the time of this post. Daniel Castro has been operating as the team's shortstop in the absence of Simmons, and with the Braves firmly out of the playoff picture, the team has every incentive to approach his injury status carefully.
More information should be available later today, but for now, Braves fans can be pleased that the injury was not more serious for Andrelton Simmons.
