Lost in the midst of last night's ridiculously-exciting come-from-behind victory in extra innings over the Giants was the fact that Freddie Freeman actually exited that game early. Freeman left in the fifth inning following an at-bat, and that led us to speculate about whether or not his wrist was acting up again.
As it turns out, it's actually an oblique strain. As a result, Freeman has been placed on the 15-day disabled list. Meanwhile, reliever Jason Frasor has also been placed on the 15-day DL.

Simply put, this is a bummer. Freeman never really got into a groove after his return on July 25th from the wrist injury, and now he's got another injury to deal with. Additionally, it's an oblique strain as well, and those are notoriously tricky injuries to deal with as well. Considering the fact that the Braves are pretty much out of the race, we'll probably see Freeman get as much time as possible to heal up from this. There's no need to rush him back as he recovers from another unfortunate injury.
In the meantime, Joey Terdoslavich has been called back up to the major league squad, and Ryan Kelly will be joining him as well.

Meanwhile, it's time for the Braves to return to life without Freddie Freeman in the lineup. Brace yourselves, everybody.
