Gwinnett jumped out to an early 2-0 lead thanks to a Sean Kazmar RBI double in the second inning and a RBI ground out by Eric Young Jr. The Red Wings plated two runs in the fifth to tie the game, but Cedric Hunter cranked a three run homer with two outs to regain the lead in the seventh. Mallex Smith had a two hit game with a single and a double while stealing his 16th bag on the season. The Braves had two more SBs by Todd Cunningham and Mycal Jones. Smith is currently riding a six game hit streak with three of those being multi-hit games. Sugar Ray Marimon went six innings with five hits and two earned runs. David Peterson, who has been with Gwinnett for six games now, picked up his second win of the season. The bullpen as a whole went 3 innings with three hits and no runs.

The Biscuits jumped out to an early 6-2 start, but the Braves did not fold over. Mississippi struck for three runs in the fifth inning thanks to an RBI double by Emerson Landoni, Landoni scoring on a throwing error, and David Rohm scoring on a wild pitch. The Braves held the Biscuits quiet the rest of the game, but the Braves needed a run in the ninth to extend or win the game. The Braves did just that after the Biscuit pitcher walked Rohm with the bases loaded. The teams were held quiet in the tenth, but Mississippi scored by excellent base running by Landoni after being walked to lead off the inning. The relief pitching was talk of the game as they corralled seven innings of relief with no runs. The four pitchers (Bryton Trepagnier, Mauricio Cabrera, Ryne Harper, and Jason Hursh) allowed four combined hits with a walk and ten strikeouts. Trepagnier had four Ks. Hursh picked up the win and moved to 3-6 on the season.

The Mudcats batters were held fairly quiet tonight as they corralled just five hits. Two of these hits came from Keith Cruicio who connected with a double and a triple. Reed Harper, Connor Lien, and Dustin Peterson were the other three players to pick up a single. Curcio and Lien scored the only two runs for Carolina. The Dash's one through four hold hitters had seven hits with a double and a homer while tallying three RBIs and four walks. Blair Walters started for Carolina and went just 4.2 innings with seven hits and four runs allowed. He walked two and struck out three while surrendering one home run. This was Walter's tie for most earned runs this season. Clayton Cook went the longest out of the pen with 2.1 innings with a hit and no runs. He walked one and struck out two.

This was absolutely pathetic showing by the pitching staff. To anyone that is curious, Rome did not have any errors pinned against them. Every single of those TWENTY runs were earned. Zach Quintana picked up his fourth loss and was pinned with eight of those runs. Alec Grosser came in next and allowed four runs with two walks in one inning of work. The next three relievers allowed eight runs with 14 hits in 6.2 innings of work. They did strikeout out six while on the mound. There truthfully wasn't anything good to say about the pitching today. I think the Mets spread their good juju to their minor leagues too. However, Leudys Baez has fit in quickly with three hits in two games with Rome.

Austin Riley has caught fire and hasn't looked back here in the past several weeks. After getting called up to Danville, he is 7-17 with two doubles, a triple, and a homer. He has scored five times in four games while driving in four RBIs. The Braves tonight had six total hits with two doubles, one triple, and one home run. Ray-Patrick Didder went 1-5 with the one triple while scoring once. Carlos Martinez matched Riley with two hits with a single and a double. Pitching-wise, Matt Withrow looked decent except for the solo home run allowed in his four innings of work. He did not allow a walk while striking out three. The relievers allowed two runs with three hits in five innings of work. They walked two and struck out just one.

The GCL team played a doubleheader tonight to make up a game from 8/3 against the Phillies. The shortened first game only went seven innings, and the box scores were nearly identical for both teams. The Braves and Phillies each had five hits with an error. The GCL Phillies jumped out to a three to nothing score and never looked back. Jose Pina had a perfect game for the Braves in game one as he went 3-3 with a double and two singles. Bradley Keller had a base knock and later scored the only run for the Braves.
In game two, The offense lit a spark as they picked up nine hits with five being extra base hits: two doubles, one triple, and two homers. The two homers came from Ronald Acuna and Jonathan Morales. Morales homered in the fourth to right field as Acuna connected for the walk off homer for the Braves. Alejandro Salazar led the team with a pair of hits while picking up the only triple of the night. The two doubles were picked up by Isranel Wilson and Robert Nesovic. The Braves difference faltered some as they gave up two errors, but only one of the base runners cashed in with a run. The Braves pitching staff gave up 10 hits and four runs with three earned. They walked an inordinate amount of six while striking out five.
