Hector Olivera will not begin rehab games for 10-12 days

Newly acquired 3B Hector Olivera is a little further away from rehab games than one would hope

When the Braves acquired Hector Olivera from the Dodgers in the mega-deal that sent Alex Wood and Jose Peraza away, it was well-known that he had suffered a hamstring injury earlier in the year and had suffered a setback as well. Most estimates were that he would need another week or so of recovery before he would begin his rehab assignment, with the hope that he could join the big club by the middle of August or so.

However, it appears that it could be a little bit longer than that before we see Olivera on the field.

Setbacks are fairly common with hamstring injuries and they can been tricky to get healed completely. Its possible he suffered another setback or the Braves are simply being extra-cautious with this season essentially "lost".

When he finally does begin his rehab assignment, Olivera will more than likely join AAA Gwinnett before eventually joining Atlanta.
