The Atlanta Braves will shut down top prospect Ozzie Albies for the remainder of the season due to a thumb injury according to team president John Hart.

Braves top prospect Ozhaino Albies will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a minor right thumb fracture this week with Class A Rome, according to president of baseball operations John Hart. The plan at the moment is to shut Albies down and get him ready for the Instructional League.

Assistant Farm director Jonathan Schuerholz first talked about Albies' injury on Thursday and said that the hope was that Albies would be able to return before the end of the season. The injury is said to be minor, but it appears that the team won't take any chances with about a month remaining in the minor league season.

Albies cemented his status as a top prospect with a stellar season at Rome where he has hit .310 with 64 runs scored and 29 stolen bases.
