It is a new week, and the Atlanta Braves sit in a tie for the worst record in baseball. In an effort to escape from that reality, we will foray into the world of DFS with a look at Monday's games while the hometown team sits idle.
SB Nation and FanDuel continue to partner on daily fantasy baseball, and we regularly bring you "recommended" lineups. Today, we will break out a winning (we hope) group for the evening slate, and hopefully, things will go well.
As usual, fading my picks may be your best option, so if you do that, I won't be offended in the slightest.
Note: This lineup would be used in a 7:05 pm ET contest.
P - Cole Hamels ($10,600)
C - Travis D'Arnaud ($3,900)
1B - Brandon Belt ($3,000)
2B - Brian Dozier ($3,000)
3B - Trevor Plouffe ($2,400)
SS - Corey Seager ($3,100)
OF - Mark Canha ($3,700)
OF - Angel Pagan ($2,700)
OF - Jay Bruce ($2,600)
With a portion of the league suffering through an off day, we are forced to go with a lineup that is very specific to match-ups. First, I'm building around bad pitchers, and that is illustrated above.
D'Arnaud is the biggest purchase among hitters, and he holds a prime match-up against Marlins left-hander Justin Nicolino. Elsewhere, I'm playing two Twins right-handers in Dozier and Plouffe (at reasonable costs) and I love the left-handed mini-stack of Brandon Belt and Angel Pagan. Mark Canha is probably my single favorite buy based on his recent hot streak and, frankly, I like every part of the lineup.
As usual, my fate is tied to the starting pitcher, though, and Cole Hamels has real upside. Hamels doesn't have the easiest match-up, but the Astros are prone to strike outs against quality pitchers, and I'm banking on that here.
The slogan, as always, is to simply make money, and this lineup can (hopefully) help you get there. Let's do this together.
