Game Thread 9/2: Braves vs. Marlins

The Atlanta Braves look to avoid a sweep from the Miami Marlins in a getaway day contest on Wednesday afternoon.

Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

Williams Perez will be recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett to make what would have been his next scheduled start for the Atlanta Braves had he not been optioned to the minor leagues. Following his last start, the struggling Perez was sent down, but was allowed to come back up in response to the club placing Mike Foltynewicz on the 15-day disabled list. Perez has compiled a 12.79 ERA in last three starts.

Atlanta will be looking to avoid the sweep, having only scored one total run in the first two games of the series. Neither team has performed well of late, but the Braves' miserable 8-20 record in August continued, as they dropped the first game of September.

Miami sends rookie Adam Conley to the mound. Conley sports a 2-1 record in nine games (five starts) this season with a 4.96 ERA.
