Some of the momentum gained by two series wins over the Phillies and Mets was erased as the Atlanta Braves were swept by the Miami Marlins over the weekend. The Braves need just one win in the final six games to avoid their first 100-loss season since 1988.
Atlanta will look to get that win behind the right arm of rookie Matt Wisler. He has been much more effective and aggressive in his last three starts, following a bullpen appearance against these Nationals on September 6. Wisler has completed at least six innings in each of those starts, and will need to go deep into the game once again if he hopes to notch win number seven on the year.
Tanner Roark has come out of the bullpen for the Nationals most of the season, but will make his 11th start for the club tonight. He has been better the past two years than the current one, but is still no slouch, especially against the Braves. He last started against Atlanta on September 4, and gave up a single run in 4.1 innings of work.
