The Atlanta Braves officially announced the signing of Kelly Johnson to a one-year deal on Friday afternoon. To make room for Johnson on the 40-man roster, Atlanta placed Joey Terdoslavich on waivers where he was claimed by the Baltimore Orioles.
Johnson began the 2015 season with the Braves before he and Juan Uribe were dealt to the New York Mets prior to the trade deadline. Johnson appeared in 111 games overall last season and hit .265 with 14 home runs and 47 RBIs. Johnson can play multiple positions and can provide depth at third base or in either corner outfield slots. Johnson will be in his third stint with the Braves after breaking in with the team from 2005-2009 before rejoining the club prior to last season.
Terdoslavich hit .214 with one home run and four RBIs in 28 games with the Braves last season. He hit .281 with four homers and 24 RBIs in 42 games for Triple-A Gwinnett last season.
