In this morning’s news and links, I figured that Bud Black would be the front-runner for the Braves’ managerial job. Let today be a lesson to you — don’t listen to me when it comes to managerial speculation. I’m saying that because there have been numerous reports from writers who are close to the Braves who believe that the club will take the “interim” tag off of Brian Snitker and make him the permanent manager of the Braves.
As a matter of fact, AJC Braves beat writer David O’Brien has cited a “person familiar with the situation” as a source and he fully expects the Braves to name Snitker as the manager.

Now, we’ve been hearing rumors that Snitker was one of the frontrunners, but this is the first time that we’ve heard one of these reporters use a source to back up their claim. Also, this is probably the strongest news that we’ve heard when it comes to managerial speculation.
David O’Brien also reported that the Braves will likely announce their decision on a day with not so many playoff games, but the announcement still appears to be coming pretty soon. Nothing is set in stone yet, but it still appears clear that most of the players will get their wish and Brian Snitker will be the manager of the Braves going forward.
