The Atlanta Braves could be nearing a decision for their next manager according to a report by Jon Heyman of Today’s Knuckleball. Per Heyman, the Braves have narrowed their search down to three candidates and that a decision is expected within the next week.
The Atlanta Braves appear to have their managerial decision down to three finalists – former Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington, former San Diego Padres manager Bud Black and interim Brian Snitker.
A decision is expected this coming week, perhaps early.
Various reports have pegged Snitker and Black as front runners for the job so the inclusion of Washington is interesting.
The team parted ways with longtime pitching coach Roger McDowell earlier this week while first base coach Eddie Perez has been mentioned as a candidate for Colorado’s vacant manager job. The team will hold off on hiring a new pitching coach until after a new manager is in place.
