Terms of the deal were not disclosed but Gosewisch was projected to receive a contract around $600,000 according to MLBTraderumors.com. The Braves claimed Gosewisch off of waivers from the Diamondbacks back in November to add some depth to the catcher position.
Gosewisch saw action in 33 games for Arizona in 2016 and hit .156 with three home runs and seven RBIs. He hasn’t had a lot of success at the plate in the majors slashing .199/.224/.289 in 126 career games.
The Braves now have six arbitration eligible players remaining and must decide whether or not to tender them a contract by Friday. Those players include outfielder Ender Inciarte, catcher Anthony Recker and pitchers Arodys Vizcaino, Paco Rodriguez, Chris Withrow and Ian Krol.
