Indians beat Braves, improve win streak to 10

The Atlanta Braves were unable to cool off the Cleveland Indians in an 8-3 loss in their series opener Monday night. Lonnie Chisenhall broke a 1-1 tie in the fourth with a three-run home run and the Indians never looked back.

Gant exits vs. Indians with left oblique strain

Braves starter John Gant was pulled from Monday’s game in the third inning due to a left oblique strain. The Braves announced that he would be reevaluated on Tuesday. Tyrell Jenkins came on in relief of Gant and allowed four runs on six hits over four innings in his first extended outing since being called up.

Alexi Ogando designated for assignment, Braves call up Mauricio Cabrera

The Braves added a new reliever to their bullpen prior to Monday’s game when they recalled Mauricio Cabrera from Double-A Mississippi. To make room on the active roster, Atlanta designated reliever Alexi Ogando for assignment. Cabrera made his debut in Monday’s loss to the Indians with a scoreless inning.

Beckham begins rehab assignment

Gordon Beckham’s began a rehab assignment with the Gulf Coast League Braves on Monday going 0 for 3 while playing third base. Beckham has been out since early June due to a hamstring strain but could be back within a week if all goes well.
