Indians win streak at 12, sweep Braves with 3-0 victory

Jose De La Cruz pitched well in his major league debut but Atlanta’s bats fell silent once again in a 3-0 loss to the Cleveland Indians. De La Cruz allowed seven hits and three runs over six innings of work.

Braves first home game at SunTrust Park is tentatively scheduled for April 13, 2017

The AP reports that the Atlanta Braves are tentatively scheduled to open SunTrust Park on April 13 against the San Diego Padres. While the schedule remains in its early stages and is subject to change, the Braves are currently scheduled to play their first eight games of 2017 on the road.

Staff woes force Braves to hasten Folty’s return

Mike Foltynewicz will come off the disabled list on Thursday and start for the Atlanta Braves when they open a four-game set with the Miami Marlins. Foltynewicz has been on the disabled list since June 1 due to bone spurs in his elbow. He was originally scheduled to make a second rehab start in the minors but John Gant’s injury is forcing him into action.

Braves’ Vizcaino struggling with walks late in games

Braves closer Arodys Vizcaino is dealing with command issues and has walked 10 batters in 12 2/3 innings since May 29. Brian Snitker told the AJC on Wednesday that he doesn’t think there is anything wrong with Vizcaino and just thinks its a cold streak that every player goes through eventually.

“He is going through a rough time,” Braves interim manager Brian Snitker said. “Hitters and pitchers go through it too. It is part of the baseball thing that keeps us coming back. I just think he might be in one of those spells that everyone gets into in every aspect of the game.”

Royals lose Lorenzo Cain to hamstring injury

The Kansas City Royals will be without outfielder Lorenzo Cain for a while after he suffered a strained hamstring while trying to leg out an infield hit on Tuesday. Jarrod Dyson is expected to see the bulk of playing time in center while Cain is sidelined.

Miguel Cabrera hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning of Tuesday’s game against the Miami Marlins and became the 50th player in MLB history to homer against all 30 teams.
