MLB Trade Rumors: Braves likely to hold onto Ender Inciarte

It doesn’t appear that Ender Inciarte will be going anywhere.

The Atlanta Braves could be one of the more active teams at the August 1 trade deadline but are unlikely to part ways with center fielder Ender Inciarte according to a report by MLB.com’s Mark Bowman.

Bowman reports that Braves GM John Coppolella would have to be blown away by an offer for Inciarte and that the Gold Glove caliber defense he has displayed in the outfield has more than offset what offensive struggles he has had at the plate.

"We've been so pleased with what Ender brings every day," Coppolella said. "We know he's a better hitter than what he is showing, but he provides so much value defensively and he's also a great makeup player. We love what he brings to the clubhouse and the energy he brings to our team."

Inciarte has given the Braves a defensive presence in the outfield that they haven’t had in a very long time. He missed most of the first month of the season with a hamstring strain and never really has gotten on track although he has hit better of late.

The Braves are likely to take calls on a number of players at the deadline, but it appears that Inciarte is among those that will carry a high price tag.
