Mike Foltynewicz put together one of the finer starts of his young career on Saturday night as the Braves beat the Giants 3-1 at AT&T Park.

Foltynewicz was superb as he spun 7.2 innings of one-run ball. The righty allowed just five hits and one walk -- which came to the final batter he faced in the eighth inning before being pulled for Mauricio Cabrera -- while striking out six. It's been frustrating to watch Folty at times this year, but tonight gave Braves fans a glimpse of how tough he can be. Here's hoping a big month of September is on the way.

The Braves' offense came in the fourth inning as Matt Kemp hit a three-run bomb to center field to give the Braves a 3-1 lead. The bats were held quiet the rest of the night as pitching took over on a chilly night in the Bay Area.

Dansby Swanson went 1-for-3 with a single and walk. Freddie Freeman hit his 34th double of the year, while Ender Inciarte singled and walked. Every Braves starter other than Nick Markakis had one hit.

The Braves and Giants will conclude their three-game series at 4:05 p.m. ET Sunday. Aaron Blair will attempt to salvage his rookie season as he returns from the minor leagues. He will face Madison Bumgarner for San Francisco.
