Tim Tebow... Atlanta Brave?
The former Florida Gators and NFL quarterback took part in a widely publicized baseball workout on Tuesday and, as previously reported, the Braves were in attendance to watch the now 29-year-old in action. Following the workout, though, is when the "news" began to trickle out and it came from ESPN’s Pedro Gomez.
As part of a hit on SportsCenter on Tuesday evening, Gomez had this to say about the possibility of a marriage between Atlanta and Tebow:
"In talking to some people around the game, they think the Atlanta Braves might be the best fit. A lot of that has to do with the fact that he played football at Florida, which is SEC country. Georgia is not far from Florida and there is a big following for anything to do with football down there. Let’s face it, it’s a business, so if you can sell Tim Tebow jerseys, you can make some money and, therefore, you can spend that money within your own organization on player development."
Obviously, this is simply a report from one source at this point, but Gomez’s comments will certainly inspire panic in Braves Country from fans who want no part of this experiment. Stay tuned.
