Matt Wisler is expected to return to the mound for the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday against the Miami Marlins according to a report by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s David O’Brien.
Wisler hasn’t pitched since August 31 when he allowed four hits and one earned run over six innings against San Diego. Wisler battled through soreness in his side during that start and forced him to skip his next outing. Per O’Brien, Wisler threw a bullpen session on Friday and reported no problems.
Wisler’s struggles in July led to a demotion back to Triple-A but he has responded in a big way since his return. In two starts in August he has allowed just six hits and two earned runs in 14 innings. He is 6-11 on the season with a 4.76 ERA in 22 starts.
Williams Perez is slated to start Sunday’s series finale against the Mets while Mike Foltynewicz is scheduled to start Monday’s series opener against the Marlins.
