Braves overwhelm Phillies, 12-2

Matt Kemp homered again while Mike Foltynewicz returned to the mound with a solid outing in a lopsided 12-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. The Braves have taken the first two games of their series against the Phillies and have won 9 of their last 10 games overall.

Freeman extends hit streak to 30 games, best in 2016

Freddie Freeman singled in the sixth inning of Wednesday’s 12-2 win over the Phillies to extend his hitting streak to 30 games giving him the longest hitting streak in MLB for the 2016 season. Jackie Bradley Jr. hit safely in 29 straight games earlier this season. Freeman is just three games behind Dan Uggla for the franchise mark.

Snitker hopeful he can remain Braves’ skipper

The Braves have enjoyed a remarkable turnaround at the end of the 2016 season and Brian Snitker is hoping that momentum will enable him to keep the Braves managerial job.

"I'd love to have a crack at it and hopefully I will," Snitker said. "But if I don't, I'll work somewhere. I'm not ready to retire. This is a fun job."

Cubs sign Theo Epstein to 5-year extension

The Chicago Cubs have the best record in baseball and Theo Epstein is getting rewarded with a five-year extension. The deal is expected to make him the highest paid executive in the league. The team also agreed to extensions with general manager Jed Hoyer and senior vice president Jason McLeod.

White Sox want to retain Robin Ventura as manager

Robin Ventura won’t be blamed for the White Sox’s losing season and will have the option to return as team manager next season. However, Ventura won’t make that decision until after the end of the regular season.
