BRAVES NEWS

Alex Jackson is turning heads in Arizona, showcasing his immense power while getting extra work against some of the best prospects in baseball. His continued success, both at the plate and behind it, will only increase the belief that he could soon join fellow Peoria Javelinas teammate Ronald Acuna in the Atlanta lineup.

Seeing McCann & Gattis in the Series doesn’t mean the Braves were wrong

Mark Bradley of AJC.com writes that while seeing Brian McCann and Evan Gattis play in the World Series may be nostalgic for Braves fans, the club was still right to part ways with both. For McCann, an $85 million contract with the Yankees was too high a price for Atlanta, and Gattis was a DH who was forced to catch and play left field out of necessity. His back issues would eventually preclude him from catching, so the Braves moved on, and rightfully so in Bradley’s estimation.

Matt Adams headlines Braves’ arbitration eligible players

The Braves have currently have seven players who are eligible for arbitration this offseason, led by 1B/OF Matt Adams and RHP Mike Foltynewicz. MLB Trade Rumors provided some projected arbitration figures to give fans an idea as to how much each player should be expected to earn in 2018. Tough decisions will have to be made regarding players like UT Jace Peterson and RHP Arodys Vizcaino, upon whom our own Ivan the Great provided some insight:

The Braves will be looking to upgrade their bullpen this offseason but Vizcaino appears to a lock to return, barring a trade.

(Ivan’s note: While something approaching $4 million is a bit of a steep price for a single relief roster spot if the Braves are not going to try and compete in 2018, the Braves should be able to transform it into a good return should they be interested in doing so.)

2nd to none! Astros win extra-epic G2 in LA

What a game. While the word “epic” may be annoyingly overused to describe literally everything, it fits in this case. This game featured eight home runs, a World Series record, with five coming in extra innings. The Astros finally pulled out a one-run victory in the 11th inning, as a George Springer two-run homer gave Houston the necessary cushion to earn the first World Series win in club history. If this game is any indication, this could be an incredible series.
