The Atlanta Braves announced on Thursday that utility man Micah Johnson had been claimed off waivers by the Cincinnati Reds. Johnson appeared in just 18 games for the Braves in 2017.

The Braves acquired Johnson this past January in a trade with Los Angeles. He suffered a wrist injury during spring training that sidelined him until July. He hit .289/.377/.400 in 40 games at Gwinnett and was part of Atlanta’s September promotions but was never able to carve out much of an opportunity.
The Braves have begun clearing spots on their 40-man roster. Reliever Ian Krol opted for free agency after being dropped from the 40-man roster. The team outrighted catcher Tony Sanchez to Gwinnett earlier this week.
