Braves’ sanctions unlikely to be announced until after World Series, per report

The time frame for how long this investigation may take is coming into focus.

Major League Baseball’s investigation into the Atlanta Braves and their dealings on the international market is ongoing and sanctions are unlikely to be announced anytime soon.

A report by the Marietta Daily Journal’s Nubyjas Wilborn indicates that the sanctions won’t be announced until after the World Series.

Wilborn echoes USATODAY’s report from earlier this week that said that investigators were looking into how widespread the Braves’ transgressions were. According to Wilborn, investigators are looking at scouting director Brian Bridges and special assistant to the general manager Chad McDonald.

“If they were doing it in Latin America, why wouldn’t they in other places?” a source with knowledge of the investigation said. “It’s hard to believe that Coppolella acted without help, so pretty much everybody is a suspect.”

So fans shouldn’t expect to hear of any punishment until after the MLB Playoffs are completed. At the same time, it seems unlikely that the general manager vacancy in the front office will be filled before those sanctions are announced. So it appears that this situation will be going on for a bit longer and that investigators are no longer just focused on Coppolella but the entire organization.
