Minasian gives new meaning to 'baseball lifer'

Braves beat writer Mark Bowman chronicles the career of Braves assistant GM Perry Minasian, whose father was a clubhouse assistant for the Rangers. Minasian began his baseball life by mingling with players at Rangers games, and followed that path to the major leagues, where he has advanced into a top executive.

"My dad got us started early," Perry said. "I was eight when I started. We worked hard. It wasn't just show up and leave. Child labor laws wouldn't approve, but I wouldn't change a thing about what we got to do and experience."

D-backs’ Pavin Smith gave his parents the ultimate gift by paying off their mortgage

In case you missed this on Monday, Diamondbacks prospect Pavin Smith paid off the mortgage on his parents’ home as a Christmas gift. The 21-year-old was taken with the seventh-overall pick in the 2017 draft by Arizona. Quite the gesture by a young man barely old enough to legally drink. Good job Pavin.

Hall calls: 10 active players on Cooperstown path

This is an interesting piece, especially with so many Hall of Fame ballots being made public this time of year. There are no Braves on the list, but the names listed are hard to argue nonetheless.
