Game Preview: R.A. Dickey takes the ball on Jackie Robinson Day

The Braves will be playing their second game in their new digs.

MLB: Atlanta Braves at Miami Marlins Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Braves currently hold a record.

For best all-time record in their home ballpark. The winning percentage is at a sky high 1.000.

Ok, so it was just one game, but you take what you can get, right?

After opening SunTrust Park officially on Friday night, the Braves took the opener of a four-game series from the San Diego Padres, 5-2, behind the strength of Julio Teheran’s six innings and a two-run home run from Ender Inciarte.

Now the Braves will partake in the festivities of Jackie Robinson Day, the 70th anniversary of the former player breaking Major League Baseball’s color barrier. Each player will wear a No. 42 jersey in his honor.

R.A. Dickey will take the mound for the Braves on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. in his second start with the organization he grew up rooting for. His defense failed him in his first start, as he allowed six runs (only three of them earned) in a loss at Pittsburgh.

Opposite Dickey will be Clayton Richard, who is making his third start of the season. In his first start, against the Dodgers, Richard was outstanding, hurling eight shutout innings. He was less impressive in his last start, against the Giants, but by no means awful, as he went six innings and allowed five runs.

Richard will be looking for his first hint of success against Atlanta in his career. In five previous starts against the Braves, he is 0-5 with a 6.91 ERA. Brandon Phillips has seen Richard more than any other Braves player, as he is 5-for-17 against him, with a homer and two RBIs. Freddie Freeman is 3-for-7 against him with four RBIs, and Nick Markakis is 2-for-5 with three RBIs.

Nobody on the Padres’ roster has had extensive success against Dickey. Erick Aybar is 4-for-18, and Wil Myers is 2-for-18 with seven strikeouts. Former Brave Christian Bethancourt is 2-for-3 against the knuckleballer.
