Braves vs Phillies schedule and probable pitchers

The Atlanta Braves hit the road again on Friday when they will open up a three-game set against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Atlanta won five straight games to get back to .500 before suffering a series sweep to the Washington Nationals. They enter Friday’s game with a 6-9 record and tied with the Phillies in the N.L. East standings. The Phillies took 2 of 3 from the New York Mets in their last series and are 2-4 at home. The Braves opened the season with an eight-game road trip and are 2-6 in games away from SunTrust Park.

Friday, April 21, 7:05 p.m. (Fox Sports South)

Bartolo Colon will open the series on the mound for Atlanta and will be looking to build off a strong outing last time out. Colon picked up a win while limiting the San Diego Padres to just one hit and one run over seven innings in his last start. He’s 1-1 with a 4.24 ERA in three starts so far this season while limiting opponents to a .175 batting average.

Philadelphia will counter with right hander Jeremy Hellickson who has been lights out in three starts so far this season. Hellickson has allowed just 11 hits and three runs over his first 17 innings this season. He allowed four hits and two runs over seven innings in a win over Washington last time out.

Saturday, April 22, 7:05 p.m. (Fox Sports South)

Jaime Garcia will make his fourth start of the season for the Braves on Saturday. Garcia turned in his best outing of the season last time out allowing two runs over 6.1 innings while picking up a win against the Padres. He has been dealing with a lot of baserunners allowing 18 hits and seven walks over his first 17.1 innings. Garcia is 3-4 with a 2.82 ERA in 10 career appearances against the Phillies.

The Phillies will throw another talented right hander at the Braves on Saturday in Jerad Eickhoff who has thrown at least six innings in each of his three previous starts this season. He enters Saturday’s start with an 0-1 record and a 2.75 ERA. He allowed eight hits and three runs over six innings while picking up a no-decision in his last start against the Nationals. Eickhoff has allowed just six earned runs in six career starts against the Braves.

Sunday, April 23, 1:35 p.m. (Fox Sports South)

Mike Foltynewicz made his return to the Braves rotation on Tuesday and turned in a solid performance allowing five hits and two runs over seven innings against the Nationals. He will look to carry over that momentum into Sunday’s start against the Phillies against whom he has allowed 12 earned runs in just 18 career innings in four previous appearances.

Zach Eflin will make his second straight start for the Phillies after replacing Clay Buchholz in the rotation. Eflin allowed three hits and two runs over five innings in his first start against the Mets. He went 3-5 with a 5.54 ERA in 11 starts for Philadelphia last season. Eflin threw a complete game in his only appearance against the Braves last season allowing six hits and one run.
