Freddie Freeman to undergo MRI, CT scans on Thursday

X-Rays on Freeman’s wrist were inconclusive

Freddie Freeman left Wednesday’s 8-4 win over the Toronto Blue Jays after being struck in the left hand by a pitch from reliever Aaron Loup. X-Rays performed at the park were inconclusive and Freeman is scheduled to undergo an MRI and a CT scan on Thursday.

Despite winning their third straight game, the mood surrounding the Braves was predictably dark following the game. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s David O’Brien reports that Freeman was hit “on a bone on the inside of his left hand, below the palm and just above the wrist.” That is a different scenario than the right wrist injury that put sent Freeman to the disabled list twice in 2015.

It goes without saying that Freeman is perhaps the most irreplaceable part of the Braves lineup. Hopefully the results will be in sometime on Thursday and the team will make an announcement in regards to Freeman’s status going forward.
