Bartolo Colon was hit hard again on Wednesday and Braves manager Brian Snitker is unsure of what his role will be going forward. Colon allowed six runs and eight hits in just four innings in Wednesday’s loss to the Padres. His ERA stands at 8.14 after 13 starts this season.

Colon has now allowed 23 runs over his last 15 innings spanning four starts. Snitker told reporters that moving him to the bullpen would be an option. The team could also opt to eat approximately half of the $12.5 million owed on his one-year contract.
The Braves signed Colon and R.A. Dickey this past offseason in hopes that he could be a stabilizing force on their rotation. While Dickey has been up and down, it clearly hasn’t worked out with Colon. A move to the bullpen doesn’t appear likely to produce different results.
