Braves place Jason Motte on DL, recall Jason Hursh

Motte heads to DL with back strain.

The Atlanta Braves have placed reliever Jason Motte on the 10-day disabled list due to a back strain. The team recalled right hander Jason Hursch to take Motte’s place on the active roster.

Motte has performed well out of the Braves bullpen having appeared in 31 games while posting a 3.76 ERA. He’s allowed 11 runs over 26 13 innings so far this season.

Hursh had a cup of coffee with the Braves earlier this season appearing in six games while allowing one earned run over 5 23 innings. He has appeared in 23 games between Double-A and Triple-A this season posting a 3.11 ERA to go along with 30 strikeouts in 37 23 innings.
