Phillips has a partial no-trade clause in his contract which allows him to veto a trade to 12 teams. His deal also contains a $500,000 bonus if traded.

The Angels are among the teams on Phillips’ no trade list so the ball is in his court according to USAToday’s Bob Nightengale. The deadline to complete a trade is midnight tonight.
The #Braves and #Angels are waiting for Brandon Phillips' decision. The #Angels are on his no-trade list. It's entirely his call now.

The Angels entered today just 1.5 games out of the final wild card spot in the American League. They made a splash already today acquiring outfielder Justin Upton from the Detroit Tigers.
Phillips is in a current situation with the Braves where he could lose playing time to younger players like Johan Camargo and Rio Ruiz over the final month of the season. Camargo is working his way back from a knee injury but is due to rejoin the team next week.
